My top 10
1. The Doctor's Communication Handbook. Peter Tate
- this is a fabulous book that should be read by all doctors nnot just GP
trainees.
- I frequently dip into it for inspiration
2. A Textbook of Family Medicine. Ian Mc Whinney
- A classic textbook of family practice
3. Notes for the MRCGP. Palmer
- Don't mention this book in the viva for the MRCGP, but I find it still a
source of information
- A little out dated now......hopefully a new edition soon
4. A Guide for New Principals. Pringle, Hayden and Procter
- a newcomer but one that I found informative
- certainly useful for the trainee or newly vocationally trained GP
5. The Inner Consultation. Roger Neighbour
- I couln't leave it out.......could I?
- Read the first chapter as suggested...then dip into the remainder when you
have time
6. Doctor's Dilemmas. Ben Essex
- This book makes you think.......great tutorial material.
7. Evidence-Based General Practice. Ridsdale
- Short.....to the point...clever little book which actually makes EBM
interesting???
8. ABC of Dermatology. Buxton
- lots of pictures, easy to read, ........together with a good atlas and you
should get by in General Practice.
9. The BNF
10. The Green Book
- immunisation at your finger tips.
