Information for Patients about Diabetes Diabetes is a common condition that affects about 3% of the adult population. It occurs in 10% of people over the age of 65 years. So if you have diabetes you are not alone. This page contains links and information about diabetes.
All patients with diabetes should have regular checks to monitor their diabetes and to detect any complications that can arise as a result of the condition. Many of the complications of diabetes can be prevented if they are detected at an early stage. One of the most important checks a diabetic should have at least on an annual basis is a diabetic annual review. At the annual review each patient will have:
This review may occur in the surgery or in a hospital clinic. For the vast majority of patients the annual review will take place in Abersychan surgery in one of the diabetic clinics.
